At UCP Heartland, we understand that a brain injury can change a person’s path, but it doesn’t have to limit their future. Our employment services are designed to support your loved one in finding and keeping a meaningful job. We offer career exploration, job development, coaching, and ongoing support to ensure success in the workplace. Partnering with Vocational Rehabilitation and the Department of Health and Senior Services, we help your loved one build confidence, independence, and a brighter future.
Program Goal and Highlights
At UCP Heartland, our goal is to provide employment assistance to adults with traumatic brain injuries to help them obtain and maintain competitive employment.
Employment Services Plus for TBI – with VR
For those with a traumatic brain injury, employment can be hard to find or return to. Our expert team is here to provide vocational services to help open (and often reopen) the door to meaningful employment for your loved one. We offer support every step of the way—from preparing for the workplace to finding the right job and staying successful in it, through services such as:
- Identifying and refining realistic vocational goals
- Determining accommodations that will be needed for successful employment
- Preparing for interviews
- Securing a job offer
- Self-advocacy
- Negotiating accommodations
How to Get Started
The primary referral source for our services is the Missouri Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) with additional referrals received from the Department of Mental Health (DMH). The Department’s current service areas are St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County in Eastern Missouri, and Cole County, Osage County, Moniteau County, Boone County, and Calloway County in Central Missouri.
