Are UCP Heartland services limited to a specific type of disabilities?

We primarily provide services for individuals who have a developmental disability. (In some cases, our Employment Resources team can help individuals with brain injury or other disabling conditions that occurred after the age of 22.)

A developmental disability is a disability which is attributable to an intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, head injury, autism, or a learning disability related to brain dysfunction, or any other mental or physical impairment; AND 

Occurs prior to the age of 22; AND

The disabling condition is likely to continue indefinitely; AND

Results in Substantial Functional Limitations in 2 of the six areas listed: Self-Care; Receptive/Expressive Language; Learning; Mobility; Self-Direction; Capacity for Independent Living/ Economic Self-Sufficiency; AND

Requires some level of habilitative training. Habilitative means skill development that assists the individual learning to become more independent.

How is UCP Heartland funded?

For adults and young adults, UCP Heartland primarily partners with the Department of Mental Health, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DMH) or Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). If you live in the St. Louis Metro area, we also partner with the Productive Living Board (St. Louis County), Office of DD Resources (St. Louis City), Developmental Disabilities Resource Board (St. Charles County), and Developmental Disability Advocates (Jefferson City). 

For individuals seeking ABA therapy we accept Medicaid, United Healthcare, Cigna, Anthem/Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, and Optum.  

Our early childhood development program is privately paid for through State childcare subsidy.

Can the family privately pay for programs and services?

Yes, we can help you with a private pay arrangement.

Is transportation provided to get to programs?

It depends on the program in which you enroll – but don’t worry, we will help you figure out your transportation options.

Do you provide assistive technology?

Yes, our Independence Through Technology (ITT) program supports individuals and families in obtaining necessary adaptive equipment and assistive technology necessary for individuals to live as independently as possible.

In your Employment Resources program, what is your placement rating?

We boast a 93% placement rating in our Employment Resources program.

How long does it take to get a job in your Employment Resources program?

Once you enter our job development program, our average days to job placement is 62 days.

What is your job retention rate once individuals have found a job through your Employment Resources program?

Of those who use our on the job supports services, our job retention rate is 87%.
